Contract Shows Demand for Advanced File Analysis Solutions in the International Defense Community
Reston, VA., August 1, 2013 – Information Governance (IG) software company Active Navigation today announced it has extended its contract with the Royal Navy, building on the company’s momentum in global defense markets. The Royal Navy is updating Information Systems on all its warships to the Defence Information Infrastructure (DII). This initiative is designed to standardize the Ministry of Defence’s networks and Record Management system across the armed forces to increase governance and collaboration, while maintaining strict security measures. With Active Navigation’s proprietary solutions, the Royal Navy is implementing an information governance program to capture, discover and re-organize unstructured data from its Fleet. By using Active Navigation, the Royal Navy ensures that its warships are compliant with government legislation while reducing server storage in each ship by up to 73 percent, resulting in significant cost savings for the Ministry of Defence.
DII is one of largest IT projects undertaken by the Ministry – the Royal Navy has a maintenance program for all of its warships, submarines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary’s. As part of this cycle, the Royal Navy uses Active Navigation’s software to review and cleanse all of the unstructured information stored on each ship’s Information Systems. The software automatically identifies redundant, duplicate and obsolete files that can be deleted or archived according to requirements.
“Active Navigation has become very much a part of our daily lives over the last few years,” said Warrant Officer Class 1, John Coleman of the Royal Navy. “We would not have been able to undertake this project in such a short timescale with our current resources without the help from Active Navigation’s software. It is an accurate tool, which assists our procedures and processes, aids governance, and is fast and easy for the end user.”
The continuation of the program demonstrates how Active Navigation’s solutions are both robust, scalable and secure enough to meet the rigorous intelligence demands of defense agencies worldwide.
“We are extremely pleased that we will continue to provide advanced Information Governance and File Analytic solutions to the Royal Navy,” said Peter Baumann, CEO, Active Navigation. “Our solutions help the military and other government organizations around the world migrate and manage important information easily and efficiently, saving time and money.”
