Halcrow turns to Active Navigation for better knowledge management and information sharing
Engineering consultants deploy Active Navigation’s Guided Information Discovery
Solution
Southampton, 02 April 2008 – Halcrow Group, the engineering consultancy company,
has selected Active Navigation’s Guided Information Discovery (GID) Solution to
improve the retrieval of information for use throughout its Intranet and web sites. Active
Navigation will be now deployed for use by its 6,000 strong workforce following a
successful pilot project.
“It was essential for us to select a solution that was flexible enough to meet our user
needs and that could deliver significant improvements to the retrieval of relevant
content,” said Elaine Johnson, Group Knowledge Coordinator of Halcrow Group.
Active Navigation GID Solution aggregates information contained in many disparate
corporate repositories, in many different formats and enables an information ‘drill down’
discovery process allowing end users to find documents rather than merely search for
them. The system easily integrates into existing infrastructure, including security
mechanisms, and leverages existing investments in other document and content
management systems.
For Halcrow the fact that Active Navigation automatically analyses, categorises,
organises, and links both its existing legacy content as well as new content created by it
employees and partners was particularly appealing. Johnson comments: “From the
recent pilot project Active Navigation clearly demonstrated that access to global content
could be improved using the Active Navigation Guided Discovery solution – enabling us
to facilitate better knowledge management and information sharing.”
Peter Baumann, CEO of Active Navigation commented: “I am delighted that Halcrow
Group has selected Active Navigation following the successful pilot to deliver improved
access to content for all employees. With this solution they will increase productivity by
re-using known information to make better informed decisions.”
