Who We AreActive Navigation provides software and services that enable organizations to proactively take control of their unstructured information through information management and governance. ContextActive Navigation's clients believe their corporate information is out of control. They have reams of information lying around, their management systems are failing, search is not performing - people can't find documents that they know exist - and storage and associated costs are escalating. On top of it all, there are inadequate policies and processes to govern the out-of-control data environment they find themselves in. Active Navigation uses proprietary technologies that empower businesses to take control of their information - that is, discover it, cleanse it, organize it, migrate it to an appropriate environment and then exploit it. What Makes Active Navigation DifferentWhile it's true that other vendors may provide parts of what Active Navigation provides (such as taxonomy design), no single vendor or service provider offers an entire methodology and toolset that can effectively take a customer from unstructured data paralysis to control and empowerment. Active Navigation's centrepiece is the combination of its proprietary discovery engine and a people-focused, five-step methodology. The discovery engine is different from what competitors offer because it leverages a combination of proprietary linguistic, duplication, link and metadata analysis that can evaluate large information stores without any prior knowledge. Using Active Navigation's tools and methodology usually delivers an immediate storage deduction of 20% to 50% for most customers by eliminating duplicate data, lowering the total IT infrastructure cost of ownership, while improving performance. Content-intensive end processes such as search are also typically sped up by double-digit percentages. The bottom line, however, is that once the process is complete the customer has addressed the fundamental challenge of its runaway information and can begin to effectively harness those assets in ways they couldn't do before. |
| Emerging from a decade of research at the University of Southampton into the thematic analysis of text using linguistic and statistical techniques, the Active Navigation Discovery Engine lies at the heart of our offering. Delivering document themes, smart summaries, metadata extraction, link and duplication analysis the Discovery Engine powers our 5-step methodology through which customers discover, cleanse, organise, migrate and ultimately exploit their information assets. This approach, supported by our expert and experienced delivery team, addresses the root cause of information overload by driving behavioural changes which result in better information management practices. |
